Unlimited mode uses exactly the same rules as the daily Guess the Flag puzzle, but you can play as many rounds as you like. Every round picks a random flag from all 197 countries in the game. The flag starts hidden under six tiles. Each wrong guess removes one tile and tells you how far your guess is from the answer, the compass direction to travel and a proximity percentage. Press New country at any time to skip ahead.
Why practice in unlimited mode?
The daily puzzle gives you one flag per day, which is perfect for a quick routine but slow for learning. Unlimited rounds are the fastest way to build the mental map you need for a perfect score: you will start to recognise the families of flags, such as the Pan-African red, gold and green, the Pan-Arab red, white, black and green, the Nordic cross and the Pan-Slavic white, blue and red, and you will learn which countries sit next to each other on the map. Unlimited games never touch your daily streak or statistics, so you can experiment freely.
Practice tips
- Play ten rounds in a row and write down every flag you missed. Look each one up afterwards.
- Open with a large, central country so the distance and arrow narrow the region quickly.
- Watch the first tile closely: a star, crescent, cross or coat of arms removes most of the candidates.
